We are almost a year old, and the first post from me. One of those things we have been doing wrong at Codez. As a quick learning organization, we have decided to fix it :) , thanks to Kumud!

Codez – How did it happen!
One good night, two friends chatting on Gtalk, decide to form a company. They say to each other, we have had enough of “normal life”. Lets do it. In two days time, we have a company name, and the domain registered. We decided to use my old house as our corporate headquarters, instead of the garage :D . Mom’s old computer became our first computer, and bing, a baby is born.

Why did we choose Codez
We wanted a small name, as suggested by my brother – 8 characters maximum. The first name we came up with was Abhikalp – meaning design (Kumud’s speciality). We decided against as it was covering only one aspect of beautiful software – design. Code, the other aspect had to be there. So, we decided to merge the name to come up with “codedesign” -> “codesign” -> “codezin” -> “codez.in”. Codez was initially “Codez.in”, but soon we realized “Codez” is an easier name to use, and formalized it. Oh yes! This is a good platform to let everyone know its pronounced as “Codez” and not “Codeaz”, or “Codezee” (I love this). We are moved when someone pronounces the name correctly! :)
For our tagline, we had initially thought of “the big small company” – something which has been my thought for a long time. Big in all the attributes you are thinking right now: P. The slogan was inspired by Twitter – how a small team has changed the big world. Then, we decided to go practical, and came up with “get noticed” – something which should happen to our customers.

It has been quite a fun journey for us. We are no longer a start-up, and are now in the transition phase to become a (lot) more professional organization. We are changing, and like every other thing at Codez, we love it!
