Copywriting That Increases Sales
The ultimate goal of any advertisement is to sell products. When you work as a copywriter you should always keep in mind one thing that you have minimum time to capture the target market’s attention. So, your ad needs to be catchy, refreshing and compact. Sometimes copywriters write a lot of content as they think elaborate explanation of a product may make the readers interested. But most of the times people see any ad for just a few seconds. Even in print media nobody likes to read detail advertisement. People like short words and phrases than detail description. Properly used catchy words make customers inquisitive and the moment you capture their attention, your job is almost done. All you need to do then is to convince them to buy the product or service.
There are a few words that can increase the sales figure if a copywriter uses them in the ad. For example, “Free” is one such word that makes the buyers crazy. People want reasons to do anything and free is a big motivator. No matter what you give “free”, the perceived value of the free item is always very high. Use the word “new” in your copywriting. It’s like old wine in a new bottle. Maybe the products you are selling thousand of brands are already selling it, yet it works like magic in capturing audience’s attention. Another useful word is “important”. People seldom miss something that’s written under “important”. “Important” is like a stop sign, people will stop and take notice. But don’t use the word vaguely. Give some truly valuable information in “important”. Most importantly, use the word “You” in your ad. This prompts a personal connection and can make it seem to your reader/viewer that you’re talking to them personally. If you are selling something where time matters the most then using the word “Fast” can work like magic. For example, if you are writing an ad for a courier company or pizza outlet, “fast delivery” is a very important phrase.
I have given some examples to show that how short and catchy words can capture readers/viewers attention and how you can use them properly to increase sales. There are several other words that you can use in the copywriting to grab audience attention, but remember to use them accordingly so that it suits the product or service.
