Web content writing is going through lots of changes and progress every day. Even a year ago you may never thought about writing content targeting the social media users exclusively. But now it happens. Earlier web content writing used to mean you only write for common websites. But as the conventional ideas and approaches changed with the ever growing business strategy, new spheres have opened. Now even forums and blogs play a very important role in web marketing and thus as a content writer you are also needed to write on those platforms.

While writing for websites most of the times require ‘corporate’ language, generally the blogs demand more casual approach to the topic. Also in the website based content writing the scope for originality and versatility of a writer gets stuck in a monotonous format of Home, About Us, Products etc. pages. In blog posts you have the freedom to experiment with your language. You are not always required to praise the company or something like that. Variety of subject is the charming quotient of this type of writing and it also helps you to create a strong readership within a short span of time. That means even if you are writing exclusively for your company’s blog you will penetrate into a bigger market; people who may not want to do business with you directly but are capable of creating a positive buzz about your company in the industry.

Forum is more like an online version of Roman Senate. You start a conversation on a topic that you think is relevant and common people participate and share their views, ideas, opinions about it. It’s a great strategy to understand your audience. For example a topic like, “Hayabusha is in India: Is it a better choice than Honda CBR 1000R?” will give you a clear idea about the psychology regarding superbikes in the market. Once the community start commenting on this topic, purposes will be served without spending a penny. First of all you will get a free of cost market survey, the user/consumer base. Beside that you will get to know the strong and weak points of the product because no matter how well you research on a product the user can always tell a better story than you do. It even gives the best companies in the market an opportunity to rectify their shortcomings and make a better product. Another most important thing the forum does is creating the buzz at such a rapid speed that even you may never imagine. Basically when a viewer post a comment in a forum he feels more like a part of the community, a consumer who is not bound to listen to what the companies claim but what he felt.

This personal opinion generation needs a different style of content writing. While writing in a forum always remember that it should be direct, not ‘classy and glossy’ words that common reader hates and feels that you are doing another publicity stunt. Be truthful and objective. Forum also needs timely reply from the writer’s side. It’s not a one time job like you wrote “About Us” page on Monday and that means you have nothing to do with it on Tuesday. Actually when you start a forum you erase the margin between the corporate house and the common user. It’s marketing cum PR trick that makes the communication process easier.
