Don’t Stop the Music
It wasn’t my first trip to Kolkata, but this time, it seemed special. The place hasn’t changed much since my last visit, but the feel was somewhat different. To be honest, Kolkata is definitely not my favorite place but it is destiny that I developed a special bond with this city in this tour.
I came here for my internship with Codez IT Solutions in Saltlake. On the first day of my internship, I met Mr. Navin Soni, the person who gave me the opportunity to do intern in his company. Frankly speaking, I pictured him to be around 35 or 40 so it came as a pleasant surprise when I discovered him to be a young lad in his 20s. But knowledge and experience wise he is far ahead of his contemporaries. I received a cordial welcome in the office and immediately felt at home. In two days, a final year student of NITK, Mr. Mayur Vadhar joined me in the project. Brilliant and quick witted he is and we soon got along like a house on fire. A few days later, I met the other founder of Codez, Miss Kumud Bihani. She is brilliant and vivacious and is absolutely clear about what she wants.
Slowly and gradually, I became part of the Codez family. Everyone there could converse in Bengali and I really felt left out when they used to discuss things in Bengali. It happened several times, that Koushik da while trying to make me understand a topic, spoke the entire thing in Bengali and I was like “What?!!” Koushik da was an all rounder. During the full internship period, we received immense help from him. Irrespective of the topic, he is someone whom you can always bank upon. Then there was Deepak da, the hard working guy, Smarajit da, the most stylish person in office, Rahul the dude and Soumyajit da, who was single and ready to mingle soon. Miss Sraddha and Miss Mousumi were the pretty females of the company. Sraddha is smart and cool and took my trip whenever she could!
In Codez the policy was work hard and party harder. At regular intervals, Team Codez used to party. We went to Nicco Park to celebrate the upcoming wedding of Mr. Soumyajit. It was full fun day. We enjoyed different rides. We gave bumps to the man who was going to be a bachelor no more. We also attended his wedding and my best wishes are with him.
That’s the spirit of Kolkata. By then, I started relishing its flavor. The language was no more alien to me and as Mayur commented one day, it is one of the sweetest languages spoken in India. It was then time for Codez to welcome another member to the family, Miss Bidisha. She is cute and has done her Masters in literature but her non-stop Bengali was sweeter than Bengali Rassogulla.
Professionally I got the exposure of a Software Industry. I thank Navin for being so kind and generous. He is a daredevil and that is the quality I would like to inherit from him.
I am taking these memories with me but will be back again very soon. Till then my message for Kolkata is “Don’t Stop the Music.”
Bye Kolkata.
Love you all.
