Going green is not just a fashionable new mantra of the big corporate houses to represent themselves as responsible, but it’s also a way to save money from the daily wastage that we do in everyday work.  As a responsible businessman it’s every business owners’ duty to reduce the wastage of nature’s precious gifts like energy and trees to increase the supply of oxygen and reduce the green house gas’s effect in the climate. I am not suggesting that you have to buy any “eco friendly “product. Instead if you follow some basic and simple things, you can make your office eco friendly and reduce the monthly cost of running the office.

Install energy efficient lighting and electrical gadgets:- An office needs very bright lighting to give it the desirable neat and vibrant look. So, compared to houses there are more bulbs and tube lights in the offices. That means you will get a lump sum bill at the end of the month. To reduce the use of energy you can install energy saving bulbs and tubes. That reduces the bill amount and indirectly saves the power wastage.

Install energy efficient AC/Heater:- In India most of the offices use AC to keep the office environment cool and in extreme cold conditions they use heaters. To reduce the energy usage you can use star rated Ac and heaters.

Use minimum paper: - Any and every office use paper for official work and documentation. If you minimise the use of paper then you can save a lot of trees. That means you are contributing to decrease pollution. As a small step to reduce paper usage in the office, print e-mails only if it’s necessary.

Switch off your computers: – When leaving the desk most of the computer users forget to turn off their computers. Always remember to switch off both the CPU and the monitor before leaving the office.

Use car pool:- It may not save the energy of the office directly but car pool is a good solution to reduce petrol wastage. If the company provides pick and drop facility they should make sure that not only the lower grade employees share one car but also the high rank officers share their car so that the petrol and money both can be saved.
