Importance of Keyword in Content Writing
Web content is written by the content writers to keep the readers or customers engaged with the website. To retain the reader’s attention you need to write lucid, informative and attractive content. But before retaining their concentration you need to gain the attention of the net surfers. There are thousands of websites selling the same products or services, then how will the buyers reach to your website in the crowded virtual world?
That’s where keyword rich content does the trick. But before explaining the importance of keyword in content writing let me explain what is “keyword.” Simply put “keyword” is a word or words related to your topic that will help people find information when conducting a search. The keywords help the SEO professionals to optimize the site for better ranking in the search results. The main purpose of putting the keywords in the content is to making it visible in the search result and getting more business.
Before writing content on any topic always research what are the important keywords for that product or service. You can check Google Adwords for getting a better idea about the important keywords. You can also check the competitor websites and learn about the keywords they use. To check the keywords on any webpage click Ctrl+u.
Once the research is done and you start writing the content remember that using too much keywords in one paragraph not only mar the beauty of the language but also if your keyword density exceeds 8 words in per 150 character then you will lose the ranking as the search engines catches your trick. Every topic has its own keywords that we use for searching. For example if you are writing for a mobile phone manufacturing company then keywords like, “cheap cell phone”, “good battery backup”, “touchscreen phone” are good for better ranking. But even then, choose your keywords carefully keeping in mind that it should be more specific. For example if you include “mobile phone manufacturing company” in your content then there is a possibility of getting a million results for that and your website may rank lower than your expectation because there are hundreds of companies around the world manufacturing it. But instead of “mobile phone manufacturing company” if you use “mobile phone manufacturing company in India” it will narrow down the search and give you a better rank. Actually, the search engines never read the whole content like the human readers. Search engines scan the websites and look for the particular keywords. So, the more relevant keywords your website returns the possibility of top ranking increases.
Also keep in mind that there are some keywords that vary country wise. For example, what is “truck” in USA is “lorry” in UK. So, also try to incorporate the local words relevant to your business. However, always remember that your content should be both customer-oriented and search engine friendly. Don’t hamper mood of the content to be SEO friendly. Because you may catch the attention of the search engines by the key words but if the customers don’t like the content once they reach your website, then eventually your business will go down. Once the perfect balance is maintained you will get the attention of both the readers and the search engines.
